I’m An Expert (Yeah, Right)

I’m an expert…. an expert at feeling stuck in my life.

It seems I can’t just rest in a happy plateau. Always a hunger, a longing, a nagging pulling on me.

Can you relate?  Do you or have you ever felt stuck in any part of your life?

Maybe it’s a job that sucks your soul.  A marriage that feels compromised or lifeless. A place you’ve lived in for 20 years that no longer excites you.

So what are you to do?

Emancipate.

Conscious Emancipation – What is it? Why bother?

Conscious emancipation liberates us from self-betrayal into self-honoring—honoring ourselves to love and be loved authentically, to find purpose, be fearless, and meet life head on.

Conscious emancipation is not about recklessly blowing up your life. Certainly, in tough moments, we may need to take decisive action – file divorce papers, quit a job or leave a relationship—but we do it with agency, sovereignty, and love.

Too many people swing a hatchet carelessly when they could do better for themselves and their loved ones. In the thick of crisis, we must pause and survey the landscape around us, not just react.

In this moment, cognitive dissonance often shows up as a guide, albeit a confusing one, telling us we’re damned if we do and damned if we don’t.

“Should I stay or should I go now? If I go there will be trouble. If I stay it will be double,” sang Joe Strummer of The Clash.

It seems that either way we’re screwed. But conscious emancipation helps us.

Conscious emancipation dissolves cognitive dissonance.

You may take the leap and also honor the ones you love.

You can speak your truth lovingly and move away from what no longer serves you.

You can feel the hurt of those impacted by your actions and still act.

You may step into the gauntlet and own it.

It will hurt like hell at times, and you may fear falling apart, but the view is different.

You see the opportunity and meet your fear with courage. You don’t just destructively project it onto others. You grow through it.

After all, is that not what we’re here to do as humans? To grow?
